About the role

  • Lead design, development, and testing of hot gas handling systems and related fluid systems
  • Develop system requirements, specifications, and design documentation for hot gas components
  • Design and optimize components including ducting, expansion joints, liners, insulation systems, and support structures
  • Select appropriate materials for high-temperature applications considering thermal cycling, creep, and corrosion resistance
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and models using 3D CAD software with proper GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Lead and participate in component and system level testing, including test planning, execution, and data analysis
  • Troubleshoot design and operational issues with calculated risk assessment
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure producibility of designs
  • Interface with various engineering disciplines to ensure proper system integration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience
  • Strong application of first principles in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and materials science
  • Experience with high-temperature systems, high-pressure gas systems, or combustion devices
  • Knowledge of thermal expansion management and thermal stress analysis
  • Experience with test data analysis
  • Solid troubleshooting skills for complex thermal-fluid systems
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (ASME, API, etc.)
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with focus on thermal sciences or fluid systems (preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred)
  • Experience with multiple types of hot gas systems (e.g., rocket engine components, heat recovery systems, industrial furnaces, flare systems) (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of high-temperature material properties and selection (preferred)
  • Familiar with CFD and FEA simulation tools for thermal-fluid analysis (preferred)
  • CAD proficiency (NX, CATIA, or similar software) (preferred)
  • Knowledge of combustion processes and emissions control (preferred)
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly of complex fluid systems (preferred)
  • Understanding of refractory materials and insulation systems (preferred)
  • Experience with process safety management related to high-energy fluid systems (preferred)
  • Familiarity with radiation heat transfer analysis and thermal protection systems (preferred)
