About the role

  • Lead a team of engineers in completion of concept generation, design, analysis, modeling, drafting, and associated documentation, of tooling used in space flight hardware manufacturing
  • Prioritize, assign, and drive completion of projects in alignment with schedule and budget targets
  • Provide technical guidance and problem solving in completion of design and analysis
  • Coordinate directly with manufacturing, operations, and product personnel, to understand tooling needs to support Operations
  • Manage external design and fabrication partners through complete project lifecycle, as required.
  • Represent the Tooling Engineering team in manufacturing, operational, and program technical reviews
  • Evaluate and approve designs and analysis performed by other engineers and vendors
  • Maintain and report on technical aspects of projects and adherence to schedule and budget
  • Participate in continuous training and skills development, and provide mentoring and growth opportunities for design engineers on the team
  • Create and present technical documentation that clearly conveys design intent and adherence to standards, requirements, and specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's college degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, structural, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; or other major requiring engineering or manufacturing core courses
  • 10+ years’ experience with design, analysis, and integration of mechanical systems (mechanisms, power transmission components, hydraulics, fluids systems, etc.), support frames/structures, and/or lifting fixtures.
  • Proven ability to drive complex projects to completion.
  • Experience with CAD tools, PTC Creo and NX preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals of electrical systems/components and control systems.
  • Hands-on fabrication, assembly, or maintenance experience.
