About the role
- Develop mechanical systems requirements, performing flow down, and verification
- Manage mechanical design, analysis, and development of launch support facilities
- Support mechanical systems configuration development and trade studies
- Oversee launch pad mechanical system construction and activation, procuring components and materials
- Manage vendor/subcontractor performance
- Create mechanical systems drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams and other documentation
- Prepare and review calculations for Mechanical Systems loads including HVAC, compressed air systems
- Plan and conduct mechanical systems facility shakedown and activation tests, and reviewing data
- Communicate and apply mission assurance principles throughout the organization
- Maintain and report on mechanical systems activity schedule, budget and technical status
- Coach, mentor and technically assist other engineers
- Identify opportunities for safety improvements and operational cost savings
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience with complex facility design, operations and maintenance
- Experience leading and managing small- to medium-sized teams integrating multiple subsystems
- Strong personnel management and mentoring skills
- Recent facility development or management experience supporting mission critical operations
- Experience with mechanical system design, sizing and specification
- Familiar with HVAC facility monitoring system
- Strong project management, budget management and team leadership skills
- Strong safety mindset and experience, including planning and conducting hazardous operations
- Professional Engineering (PE) license, or eligibility to test for and obtain a PE license within 2 years desirable.
