About the role

  • Perform analysis on primary and secondary tank structures using classic hand calculations as well as Finite Element Model (FEM) simulations
  • Create analysis documentation that is concise and accurate
  • Perform peer reviews of analysis and reports generated by other team members
  • Provide structural analysis guidance to design engineers and junior structural analysts
  • Support production issues, ongoing testing and mission operations

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of structural analysis experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures or automotive
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle load path and stress analysis of metallic and/or composite structures
  • Familiarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc.)
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications to achieve optimal structures
  • Experience with at least two of the following analysis codes: Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Optistruct, NASGRO
  • Demonstrated experience using scripting languages (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.)
