About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide the domain’s technical roadmap in alignment with BCBSLA reference architecture, standards, corporate strategy, application and technology portfolios, and enterprise data sourcing model
- Develop and maintain multiple domain roadmaps
- Support solution architects and collaborate with enterprise business architects and business owners at all levels
- Transform business requirements into solutions
- Facilitate deep-dive technical design discussions and maintain current technical skills and industry awareness
- Expose data supporting metrics for the Domain Architecture practice
- Identify innovation opportunities in the payer market, build business cases, socialize opportunities, and perform proofs of concept when warranted
- Serve as Architecture SME and designated Architecture Review Board Chair as needed
- Facilitate architecture reviews, impact analysis, documentation, recommendations, technical standards publication, and adherence measurement
- Provide architectural leadership for development efforts involving web applications, relational databases, information security, servers, networking, and related technologies
- Conduct high-level analysis and design reviews to solve conceptual problems and avoid duplicated efforts and errors
- Work with vendors to integrate technologies into the organization
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend updates to technology standards, practices, and methodologies
- Create guiding principles and standards for engineers and the enterprise
- Perform other job-related duties within scope of responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Analytics, mathematics, applied physics, or a similar technical discipline required, or four years of related experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- 7 years of technical leadership and hands-on technology implementation experience
- Four years of experience in software development, DevSecOps engineering, or systems administration
- 3 years of experience in technical architecture or data management
- Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Architecture practice, ALM, software development best practices and standards, and related tools
- Extensive demonstrable experience leading business application solution design and implementation of complex business initiatives
- Expertise in at least three listed domains, including data architecture, data delivery, data governance, integration architecture, infrastructure architecture, cloud computing architecture, digital and digital marketing architecture, security architecture, healthcare core administrative systems, enterprise provider management systems, care and disease management systems, ERP, CRM, DevSecOps, Azure, and AWS
- Understanding of infrastructure and security requirements, such as HIPAA
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, analytical, technical, written communication, verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to understand long-term and short-term perspectives
- Ability to estimate financial impact of alternatives
- Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems
- Ability to quickly comprehend new technologies' functions and capabilities
- Knowledge of many aspects of enterprise technical architecture
- Knowledge of information principles and processes
- Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting
- Understanding of network and security architecture
- Understanding of enterprise political climate and how to respond to political challenges
