Marketing

• Set subject strategy and marketing plans for the financial year in conjunction with UK counterparts and stakeholders; monitor progress, spend and return through the year and adapt tactics accordingly
• Review copy for titles; provide suggestions to strengthen the positioning of titles, author bios, descriptive copy, and metadata
• Create academic journal review lists for academic titles based on existing lists and author suggestions for titles; communicate with editors at journals to pitch books and report back to authors on efforts and results
• Respond to author inquiries in a timely manner
• Write, edit and deploy marketing materials and campaigns including email copy, flyers, social posts, and digital ads
• Contribute to the development of sales tools to support sales efforts for academic titles
• Assist with conference planning and promotion, including the creation of digital and print content to support sales and textbook adoption efforts
• Coordinate with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, and Publicity teams to ensure consistent messaging and campaign alignment
• Support the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for frontlist and backlist titles across digital and traditional platforms

Associate Marketing Manager

• Plan, create, and execute Higher Ed marketing campaigns by working with external vendors as well as internal resources.
• Manage seasonal, annual, and channel-specific audience marketing plans aligned with sales and long-term growth goals.
• Create compelling marketing materials that position Bloomsbury Academic titles effectively to an external audience market, support course adoption efforts, and drive engagement from instructors and students.
• Tailor campaigns and messaging for key academic audiences based on market research and user insights.
• Facilitate communication with editorial, sales, and marketing to ensure effective campaign execution.
• Analyze campaign performance and marketing metrics to optimize strategy, improve effectiveness, and inform future campaigns.
• Work with author and content to create digital campaigns, such as author Q&As, webinars, and videos, and then promote to faculty via digital channels.
• Help plan and execute comprehensive marketing programs, including: Content marketing, Social media strategy, Email marketing, Digital advertising, Virtual and in person events and conference marketing, Webinar planning and execution, Advertising and promotional initiatives, Sales enablement materials to support the Higher Education sales team.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Editorial, and other departments to support textbook positioning and adoption strategies.
• Manage marketing and sales budgets effectively. Support list research, copyediting, and coordination with design and engagement teams as needed.
• Work with outside vendors and internal teams to execute campaigns and ensure consistent branding.

Marketing Manager

• Providing administrative support to the Marketing & Publicity team, including book mailings, gathering title materials, creating sales presentations, and generating internal communications
• Contributing to list marketing and publicity across a variety of imprints
• Collaborating with colleagues in Editorial and Sales
• Assisting the Marketing team in Mailchimp email marketing
• Assisting the Publicity team with seasonal pitching, research and list building, and managing imprint outreach
• Assisting the Marketing Associate with season-scheduling for 450+ titles per year with regular master list checks, editorial reminder emails, and accessing reports

Marketing & Publicity Assistant – Special Interest

Designer

• Design and format cover, jacket, and interior files, spanning picture book, middle grade, and YA titles on the Children’s list
• Act as lead designer, managing all phases of design and production for a list of approximately 20-25 titles per year across age categories, with administrative and design support from the Design Assistant
• Conduct photo/art/illustrator research
• Hire and direct freelance artists and designers. Manage associated feedback, schedules, budgets, and supporting paperwork
• Prepare live picture book artwork for scanning overseas with repro house.
• Ensure artwork provided from freelance artists complies with industry standards for press-ready files
• Color-correct picture book artwork against proofs received from repro house
• Collaborate closely with editors to develop cover concepts for novel covers
• Co-art direct picture book and illustrated novel artists alongside Associate Art Director and Editorial
• Actively participate in team meetings, production meetings, and cover meetings
• Help to support, train, and mentor junior design staff
• Stay current and aware of visual trends in children’s publishing
• Keep files clearly organized and manage scheduling of own projects
• Update entries in Bloomsbury tracking and archiving systems promptly and consistently
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines
• Work with Associate Art Director on other art department needs

Senior Designer, Children's Trade

• Attending editorial meetings
• Completing publicity, influencer, and institutional research
• Drafting galley letters, press releases, and marketing materials

Marketing & Publicity Intern – Special Interest

• Reporting to the Sr. Product Marketing Manager, the Assistant Marketing Manager will be a creative self-starter excited by the idea of working in digital publishing and building a brand within the K-12 education market.
• Contribute to the execution of the marketing plan for Bloomsbury Digital Resources with ownership of a suite of databases within the portfolio.
• Help support the expansion of the brand in the K-12 and higher education markets.
• Help drive usage and awareness within schools, libraries, and two- and four-year colleges.
• Participate in the development and implementation of the global integrated marketing activity for assigned products.
• Develop marketing materials and plans for the library and academic conferences attended throughout the year.
• Act as a group point of contact for the sales teams and help with lead generation for product launches and sales campaigns.
• Liaise with other departments, especially Sales, Product Management, Product Development, and Editorial, ensuring open and effective communication.

Assistant Marketing Manager

Customer Support

• Process all orders in SAMS/SalesForce.com including setting up opportunities and accounts on both systems
• Contact point for all customer queries/technical support queries and tech support contact to Account Managers
• Report access issues and work on fixes/testing, if necessary, with a third-party platform provider
• Sales support as needed, running usage stats in particular
• Set up renewals/access fees for institutional accounts
• Set up access for all products via requests from editorial/marketing for individuals (gratis/trial access)
• Provide MARC record updates monthly and upon request to customers
• Answer queries received via general online product inboxes
• Deal with all queries as first point of contact for “contact us” forms from all digital platforms
• Provide administrative support as needed, including making sure information is correct and up to date on all internal systems
• Liase with customers on license agreements, sometimes coordinating with third party partners
