About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership, mentoring, and construction management direction for assigned market segments or projects
- Enforce best practices, process utilization, quality, safety, risk management, and company values
- Build and organize strategic client alliances
- Assume full responsibility for assigned clients and strengthen the company’s market position
- Meet regularly with clients to determine needs, success metrics, and opportunities to add value
- Direct project managers and on-site supervision to control and monitor construction
- Ensure projects meet objectives, policies, procedures, performance standards, schedules, budgets, and corporate requirements
- Lead development of safety and quality programs and culture for project teams
- Verify project managers attain client quality and safety metrics
- Oversee project financial management, including receivables, budgets, cash flow, income and expenses, cost-to-completes, and cost management reports
- Develop subordinate project managers through evaluations, coaching, mentoring, formal training, and diverse work experiences
- Qualify candidates as potential successors to Director of Construction positions
- Collaborate on selecting project managers and site teams to build balanced project teams
- Manage wage reviews, work assignments, bonus reviews, and internal promotions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four-year construction management, engineering or related degree
- Five or more years of directly relevant experience with large, complex mega projects
- Demonstrated skills or knowledge in construction techniques, estimating, construction management, financial management, construction design and administrative functions
- Proven experience directly leading more than one project team simultaneously
- Strong understanding of construction engineering and design concepts
- Understanding of electrical construction and power delivery
- Ability to develop thorough work plans and management schedules
- Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques
- Knowledge of construction contracts, construction regulations and cost control systems
- Excellent written presentation and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, organizational, supervisory, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Conflict management skills
- Ability to work within approved budgets, conserve resources, and contribute to profits and revenue
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite programs, Primavera, and CTC net
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Extensive travel required
- Experience with large, complex mega projects including utility-scale renewable energy projects
- PMP Certification
