About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert within the Major Projects Group
  • Develop safe utility-scale electrical designs from project proposal through project completion
  • Lead electrical systems analysis and modeling efforts
  • Train and mentor technical personnel and junior engineers
  • Collaborate with internal project teams, owners, vendors, and third-party engineering firms
  • Develop metrics and set engineering objectives and design standards
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection and coordination, dynamic and transient stability, electromagnetic transient, islanded microgrid, and inverter-based resource grid studies
  • Support client finance reviews and procurement technical decisions on high-risk issues
  • Review contracts to protect the company from high-risk design commercial issues
  • Establish processes that incorporate Owner requirements into conceptual-procurement and final project designs
  • Assess and improve engineering partner performance
  • Support innovative material, construction, and technical initiatives
  • Travel up to 15% of the time as business needs dictate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or power generation
  • Experience with PSCAD, ETAP, SKM, PSSE, and PSCAD/EMTDC
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or power systems engineering from an ABET-accredited college required, or relevant equivalent industry experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
  • Experience leading and developing engineers and driving technical standards
  • Strong systems studies and modeling experience in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or power generation
  • Adherence to the National Society of Professional Engineers’ code of conduct
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
