About the role
- Lead large multi-discipline design teams including civil, architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, telecom, security, and BIM while serving as technical specialist on Data Center projects
- Develop and apply advanced techniques, concepts and approaches to complex architectural and engineering problems under general direction
- Provide technical guidance and leadership over the design team on projects of medium to high complexity
- Be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting technical deliverables
- Interact in a client-facing/business development role
- Build business relationships with clients to understand needs for scope and drivers
- Prepare complex architectural and engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale data center projects including but not limited to schematic design, detailed design, permitting submission, and construction issue documents
- Conduct complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements
- Understand key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects
- Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions
- Provide support for business development or pursuit activities
- Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision
- Provide technical leadership for complex data center and commercial projects
- Drive solutions to achieve project goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering
- 8+ years’ related work experience in data center design and project execution
- Understanding of design differences in hyper-scale, edge, and colocation data centers
- Familiarity with data center tier rating system
- Demonstrates understanding of design risk factors for redundancy and resiliency
- Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles and applicable design guides and standards
- Intermediate knowledge of other engineering disciplines
- Advanced ability to interpret architectural deliverable content as assigned
- Intermediate industry knowledge and technology trends
- Intermediate knowledge of quality programs
- Intermediate knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles
- Intermediate knowledge of procurement and contract administration
- Working knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimating
- Intermediate knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal process
- Intermediate knowledge of management techniques and administrative practices
