About the role

  • Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities
  • Supervises Structural Engineers and works with Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications
  • Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFI’s, and review of contractor submittals
  • Perform project administrative tasks including design fee estimates, monitoring progress, management of project changes, and implementation of Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements
  • Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers
  • Ability to lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values of up to $100M
  • Provides guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, and engineering codes
  • Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines
  • Support continuous improvement efforts

Requirements

  • Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET accredited Structural Engineering program
  • Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 530
  • Proficiency with use of structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000
  • Proficiency with use of non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or equivalent experience in Engineering work
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience
