About the role

  • Design mechanical systems supporting new nuclear power plant designs or modifications to operating nuclear power plants.
  • Work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US.
  • Perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems of responsibility.
  • Function in a responsible engineer capacity which includes: Actively seek to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership. Provide technical direction and guidance to others. Assign tasks to and coordinate with other internal/external team members on complex projects. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Understand, manage, and adhere to project budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Initiate contact with other disciplines as needed to ensure proper workflow sequence.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in Engineering work.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
  • Desired experience includes expertise in the following areas: Nuclear Power Plant System design, Condensate and Feedwater systems, Cooling water, including closed cycle systems, High Pressure / Intermediate Pressure / Low / Auxiliary Steam systems, Instrument and/or Service Air Systems, Demineralized (DM) water supply and make up systems, Service and Potable water supply system, P&ID development, Performing calculations such as pipe sizing calculations, pipe thickness calculations, pump sizing calculation, control valve sizing calculations, heat exchanger sizing, atm. tank sizing etc., Preparation of technical specifications for mechanical equipment, piping, and valves, Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations related to nuclear power plants, Written technical Communications, Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.
