About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and workplace matters
  • Provide guidance and support on routine to moderately complex employee relations matters, escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as appropriate
  • Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, employee development, corrective action, and performance improvement processes
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding
  • Support annual HR programs and processes, including performance reviews, compensation and rewards cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and required training
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, process employee changes, and ensure documentation complies with company standards and applicable requirements
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and support HR audits, reporting, and policy updates
  • Prepare and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends and support HR and business decision-making
  • Partner with HR team members and internal stakeholders to respond to employee inquiries and ensure the consistent delivery of HR programs and services
  • Prepare, review, and maintain HR documentation, including job descriptions, policies, procedures, and employee communications
  • Identify and recommend improvements to HR processes, programs, and the overall employee experience
  • Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or comparable HR role
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, employee lifecycle processes, and HR program administration
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems
  • Experience in the AEC, consulting, or professional-services industry preferred
  • HR certification, such as PHR or SHRM-CP, is a plus
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to travel to various BKF offices as needed
