About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and maintain the native iOS Bitwarden application
Work with other teams to maintain feature parity across clients
Enable the team and others to build secure, performant, user-focused software
Become an expert and authority on the iOS codebase
Refine, design, and implement large, complex iOS initiatives
Solve intricate technical problems with minimal supervision
Lead architectural discussions and present designs with trade-offs
Investigate and resolve complex bugs
Conduct comprehensive code reviews and identify architectural and performance concerns
Advocate for technical standards around performance, scalability, and maintainability
Mentor engineers and contribute to career development
Participate in hiring through technical interviews and assessments
Identify technical debt and risks, plan mitigations, and communicate potential delays
Stay current with iOS development trends, tools, and technologies
Occasionally contribute bug fixes or shepherd community pull requests

Requirements

What you’ll need

Demonstrated expertise developing complex iOS applications with Swift and SwiftUI
Strong understanding of iOS UI/UX design and architecture principles
Ability to lead architectural discussions and weigh trade-offs
Familiarity with unit testing, UI testing, and snapshot testing
Experience using Claude Code or a similar generative AI coding platform
Experience with iOS Extensions and TestFlight
Ability to work independently on ambiguous requirements
Ability to consult with Product and Design to develop well-rounded solutions
Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards through code reviews and knowledge sharing
Ability to collaborate across QA, Product, and Design and drive team alignment
Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills
