About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage customs-related matters, authorizations and import processes
- Advise internal departments on customs, value-added tax (VAT) and tax implications of business transactions
- Prepare VAT returns, VAT filings and statistical reports
- Support external audits and handle inquiries from customs and tax authorities
- Review contracts, processes and business transactions for tax and customs-related risks
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, auditors, tax advisors and authorities
- Monitor relevant legislative changes and derive necessary actions for the company
- Participate in cross-functional projects with customs or tax law relevance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with customs and import processes, e.g. in foreign trade, logistics, freight forwarding or industry
- Basic knowledge of customs law and a strong interest in confidently applying and further developing customs procedures and authorizations
- Knowledge of VAT and ideally energy tax
- Experience supporting tax audits or communicating with authorities
- Ideally exposure to AEO, presentation exemptions (Gestellungsbefreiungen), SAP, DBH or EMCS
- Good English skills at B2/C1 level
- Independent, reliable and structured working style
- Strong communication skills and confident demeanor when dealing with internal and external contacts
