About the role
- Independent and continuous procurement market analysis and supplier sourcing
- Profitability and TCO analyses; development and implementation of the global purchasing and supplier strategy for the steel commodity (raw materials)
- Responsibility for building and expanding an international steel supplier pool
- Conduct targeted, efficient and successful price negotiations covering quantities, prices, delivery dates, delivery terms, assumption of costs and warranties
- Preparation of raw material reports; consolidation of similar material requirements based on planning data to optimize purchasing conditions
- Driver for the standardization of materials and processes; development and optimization of processes within commodity groups
- Development and expansion of the international steel procurement strategy in close cooperation with internal stakeholders
- Ensuring contractual prerequisites and concluding procurement contracts (framework agreements, etc.)
Requirements
- Completed technician qualification with good commercial knowledge; a completed technical/engineering degree is desirable
- Many years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the steel industry with a steel trader in purchasing or sales of steel (raw materials)
- Strong network in the steel industry across Europe and Asia
- Perseverance, self-motivation and strong self-organization
- Strong negotiation skills, reliable, a team player and goal-oriented
- Independent, conceptual and structured working style
- Business-fluent English, both spoken and written; additional foreign language skills are an advantage
