About the role
- Survey private and public woodlots for forest birds
- Conduct point count surveys and take forest composition measurements
- Record forest health risks and enter data
- Search for and monitor nests of target species
- Participate in volunteer and landowner engagement activities
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of Ontario forest birds
- At least 2 years of experience identifying birds outside coursework
- Experience conducting point counts and/or surveying birds
- Experience working in the field and/or using GPS and compass
- High level of organization and ability to take clear notes
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- Working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel and Word)
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G preferred)
- Valid First Aid Certification (obtained before contract start date)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
