Market Segment Manager, Small Molecules & Peptides Drug Discovery
BiotageMarket Segment Manager for Biotage’s Small Molecules & Peptides Drug Discovery team. Driving commercial growth and executing high-impact marketing strategies.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive commercial growth across the small molecules, peptide synthesis, and purification markets.
- Leverage extensive knowledge of small molecule drug discovery, peptide synthesis, and purification workflows to understand and quantify the scientific and operational drivers behind customer purchasing decisions.
- Conduct market research, competitive assessments, and Voice of Customer (VoC) initiatives to identify trends, unmet needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Define and own regional marketing goals, KPIs, and performance metrics for the small molecules, peptides, and purification portfolio.
- Build and execute comprehensive regional marketing strategies that increase portfolio visibility, drive demand, and expand market penetration.
- Design, deploy, and optimize metrics-based, multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive new customer acquisition, accelerate pipeline growth, and capture market share.
- Equip the sales team with high-quality tools, training, and insights that enhance customer engagement and improve win rates.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing application team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline; an MS or Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
- Deep experience and understanding of small molecule drug discovery, peptide synthesis, and purification markets, including customer workflows, pain points, and competitive technologies.
- 5+ years of B2B marketing experience in life sciences, drug discovery, analytical instrumentation, or closely related sectors.
- Proven ability to translate complex scientific concepts into compelling commercial messaging and value propositions.
- Hands-on experience with technologies used in medicinal chemistry, peptide synthesis, chromatography, or purification workflows, enabling credible engagement with technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of market needs and the ability to translate and prioritize applications related to those needs for the applications team.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic, data-driven marketing plans and campaigns that deliver measurable results.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and digital analytics tools.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to use metrics to guide decisions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly technical commercial environment.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing teams, including workload prioritization and resource allocation.
