About the role

  • Manage workflows in the following key areas:
  • 1. Project Planning and Implementation
  • Manage carbon projects with a complex calendar of project monitoring and verification.
  • Manage field teams, partners, and contractors to achieve project milestones.
  • Develop field budgets, work plans, and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with Host country laws, carbon standards, and internal policies.
  • Work with distribution partners in order to properly incentivize them to maximize stove sale data return rates.
  • 2. Carbon Methodologies and Compliance
  • Oversee the application of relevant methodologies (e.g., GS TPDDTEC v4.0, VERRA VM0050, etc).
  • Manage data systems for stove sales data collection, baseline surveys, and usage monitoring, and emission reduction calculations.
  • Coordinate validation and verification audits with DOEs/VVBs.
  • Ensure timely issuance and delivery of carbon credits
  • Represent BioLite in sector platforms, working groups, and carbon finance forums.
  • Engage host governments and national regulatory bodies under Article 6 bilateral agreements.
  • 3. Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)
  • Lead collection, quality control, and analysis of stove usage data (KPTs, monitoring surveys, temperature sensors).
  • Prepare Project Design Documents (PDD), Monitoring Reports, and Verification Report inputs in advance of verification audits based on data collected from the field via external consultants.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation aligned with standards and auditors’ requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline with a strong background in science, math, engineering, or other related training.
  • 4 to 8 Years of managing large field-based projects in Africa.
  • Experience with carbon offset projects, preferably on household cookstoves
  • Experience with digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK) and carbon monitoring tech (temperature sensors, IoT devices).
  • Experience with MRV/dMRV systems, quality assurance, and emission reduction calculations.
  • Knowledge of UNFCCC Climate negotiations, including the Paris Agreement (Art 6)
  • Strong writing, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Experience managing budgeting, planning, and reporting processes
  • Proficiency in English.
  • French-speaking and other local West African languages are helpful for this role.
  • Ability to travel extensively across sub-Saharan Africa.
