About the role

  • Migrate existing Azure API for FHIR workloads (including bulk & delta loads) to AHDS and upgrade to SMART on FHIR.
  • Apply and validate security layers (Azure AD OAuth 2.0, RBAC, private endpoints, WAF/NSGs).
  • Ensure HIPAA/HITRUST and CMS compliance across the platform.
  • Enable and harden Patient Access and Provider Directory APIs; capture CMS reporting metrics using Azure Monitor.
  • Design, build, and test new Payer-to-Payer, Provider, and Prior Authorization APIs on AHDS, including APIM policies and OpenAPI specs.
  • Optimize platform performance & scalability; conduct system, regression, and conformance testing.
  • Drive release management: sprint planning, UAT coordination, production cut-over, hyper-care, and incident response.
  • Produce technical artifacts: IaC templates (ARM/Bicep), runbooks, SOPs, living specifications, developer portal documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Cloud Architects, API/App Developers, DevOps, Security, and client stakeholders.
  • Location: On-site, Houston, TX. (Mandatory)
  • Contract Duration: 800 hours (approx. 5–6 months). Engagement: Full-time contractor.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in cloud engineering, Azure Environment Desired
  • 3+ years with Azure API for FHIR or AHDS.
  • Strong knowledge of HL7 FHIR R4, SMART on FHIR, HIPAA.
  • Hands-on with Azure APIM, OAuth2, ARM/Bicep, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in API development, security, and performance testing.
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell or Python).
  • Excellent communication, Agile/Scrum background, stakeholder-facing.
  • Preferred: CMS-compliant APIs, Da Vinci IGs, HITRUST, mentoring/team lead.
