About the role

  • Promotes, develops, implements, facilitates, supports and reports on youth and family activities approved by BSR Administration.
  • Assists in completion of participant registration and tracking to monitor eligibility for all program activities.
  • Assists in marketing and supporting community member participation in all program activities.
  • Provides required accurate data and reports of activities related to project funder requirements.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of community events and activities with other partner agencies, tribal groups and programs.
  • Assures that the Community Activities Program adheres to all compliance and requirements set forth by the funding agencies and/or BSR Tribal Council.
  • Positively mentors BSR community participants in education and citizenship activities to promote positive individual and community growth.
  • Develop, plan, supervise and participate with groups of participants in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, games, arts/crafts, hikes, etc.
  • Assist with daily set-up & cleanup of CSD facilities.
  • Ability to be a positive role model and routinely practice good customer service.
  • Ability to transport participants in BSR vehicles to and from activities.
  • Provide a safe environment for all participants.
  • Available to work day and evening shifts; weekend work and travel required, on occasion.
  • Assists with BSR Emergency Operations, when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. (*Trainee – not required)
  • Valid California Driver’s License and be insurable to drive (*Trainee – not required)
  • *Trainee – required to work towards High School Diploma and/or DL upon hire and according to BSR requirements.
  • Ability to transport up to seven people at a time; knowledge of routes to avoid wasted travel time and resources. (N/A for *Trainee position)
  • Minimum of 3 months experience working in a community service-based organization, youth services, recreation program, etc.
  • Submit and successfully clear pre-employment drug screen and background check prior to employment.
  • Ability to maintain current 1st Aid/CPR, Safe Food Server, and Mandated Reporter certifications.
  • Ability to facilitate classes and present information to participants in small or large group setting.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service - work in a positive, tactful, and confidential manner with staff, participants, partners, and the community.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to organize, maintain and submit data for records and reports.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Exercise good judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to work successfully with a variety of people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and support a team environment.
  • Understanding and/or sensitivity to the Native American culture, tradition and BSR community’s needs
