About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and own Biffa’s data migration strategy and standards, including the data cleanse approach and required technologies.
  • Create and maintain data migration plans covering cycles, resourcing, timelines, and project alignment.
  • Oversee or manage data extraction, transformation, and loading activities.
  • Lead data analysis and profiling to identify gaps, quantify issues, and develop data quality reporting tools.
  • Partner with Finance teams to validate migrated data against source-system financial records and explain discrepancies and impacts.
  • Document data issues, gaps, mappings, business rules, and risks, and validate them with stakeholders.
  • Conduct data due diligence and mapping sessions for organisations Biffa plans to acquire.
  • Manage a team of data migration analysts and provide development and progression plans.
  • Collaborate with the Data Architect, Product Teams, business stakeholders, Finance teams, and third parties.
  • Develop reusable migration patterns and data cleansing, mapping, and migration tools for SaaS, legacy, Dayforce, and D365 systems.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hands-on experience delivering large-scale data migrations in medium-sized or larger organisations
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and adherence to coding and documentation standards
  • Advanced T-SQL programming and performance tuning abilities
  • Skilled in SSIS or Azure Data Factory for data migration
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical challenges to non-technical colleagues
  • Ability to translate technical migration findings into financial-impact language for Finance audiences
  • Extensive experience transforming data through integrations
  • Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Skills in technical report-building tools such as Power BI
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related area
  • Technical certifications in Azure data platforms
