About the role
- Lead and develop the landfill commercial team to deliver customer growth, retention, and revenue objectives.
- Identify, assess, and secure new business opportunities that align with Biffa’s strategic and operational capabilities.
- Work closely with senior and local management to develop and implement new service offerings.
- Deliver feasibility, commercial, and regulatory approvals for new developments including landfill extensions, solar, and battery storage.
- Represent the Landfill & Gas division as part of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategy and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, HMRC, and health & safety legislation across all commercial activities.
- Drive continuous improvement through innovation, market analysis, and performance tracking.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, local authorities, regulators, and external partners.
Requirements
- Proven experience in landfill waste management and commercial development roles.
- Strong track record in delivering business growth, project management, and service innovation.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree-level education (or equivalent) in business, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation and commercial governance.
- Flexibility to travel nationally with regular overnight stays as required.
