Grant Writer, Research Specialist
Bible League InternationalProduces compelling proposals and ministry reports for foundations and major donors for Bible League International. Researches new grant opportunities and collaborates with teams for proposal alignment.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify and assess medium to high level funding opportunities from foundations that align with Bible League’s mission.
- Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and concept notes.
- Work with donor relations team members to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective funders.
- Track awarded grants, ensuring all reporting requirements and deadlines are met, and monitoring project outcomes.
- Develop year-end reports to foundation and major donors that articulate and demonstrate the impact of their grants/gifts.
- Work with marketing, donor relations, program, finance, and leadership teams to gather data, develop budgets, and align proposals and reports with organizational goals.
- Ensure all proposals and communications adhere to the organization’s Statement of Faith and core philosophies (Mission, Funding, and Leadership).
- Translate spiritual impact and program outcomes into compelling narratives that resonate with foundations and donors’ own hearts for mission.
- Serve as a "storyteller" who represents the "mind, heart, and soul" of Bible League to the foundations and major donors who support it.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a Christian, having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must also agree with our statement of faith and conduct his/herself in a Christ-like manner.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or English is preferred, and/or comparable experience and skills.
- At least 3 years of experience writing grant proposals specifically for not-for-profit fundraising.
- Proven track record of producing donor-centric communications.
- Familiar with foundation fundraising and/or able to quickly learn about foundation issues, trends, and developments.
- Cross-cultural experience working with international organizations strongly preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Able to transform complex and often complicated material into highly readable, detailed, and inspiring cases for support of BLI.
- Flexible, responsive, and able to balance a variety of activities while meeting deadlines, producing the highest quality of work.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent research skills, ability to prioritize writing assignments, and manage a varied and vigorous workload.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word; CRM/Donor management software (e.g. Virtuous, Raiser’s Edge), and grant research databases (e.g., Foundation Directory Online).
- Experience and understanding of the overall process/elements of donor communications.
- Ability to travel 10-15% annually (domestic and international).
