About the role
- Contribute to the execution of, and depending on experience, lead projects or project components in water resources and hydrotechnical engineering
- Serve as technical lead or technical reviewer for water-balance, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling studies, as well as for the design of hydraulic structures
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams on projects that may take place in complex or remote environments
- Plan and manage project tasks, including effort estimation, scheduling and coordination with other disciplines
- Supervise, support and mentor junior engineers and professionals
- Participate in client interactions, including defining technical needs and presenting results
- Contribute to business development activities, including identifying opportunities and preparing proposals (depending on level)
- Participate in internal research and development initiatives to advance technical practices
- Promote BGC’s vision, values and culture within the team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, or a related discipline
- 6 to 14 years of relevant experience in water resources or hydrotechnical engineering
- Prior consulting experience is an asset
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration within one (1) year of the date of hire
- Strong technical expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, surface water management and the design of hydraulic infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and to collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to provide positive, mobilizing leadership, including delegating, guiding technical tasks and mentoring junior engineers
- Excellent written and verbal proficiency in French and English
- Proficiency in an additional language is required for this position to communicate with partners and colleagues located outside Québec
- Autonomy, technical rigor and strong organizational skills
- Experience in the mining sector is an asset
- Experience or interest in pipeline-related projects or natural hazard risk management is an asset
