About the role
- Serve as the primary Product Owner for our API solution, operating across international markets to ensure alignment with global technical capabilities and business objectives.
- Work directly with engineering teams to break down complex technical concepts, validate feasibility, and deliver features efficiently.
- Translate commercial and customer needs into clear, actionable user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
- Manage the product backlog, prioritising work to maximise impact while balancing technical constraints.
- Act as the technical liaison between engineering and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring both sides are aligned.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies: backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support delivery by answering technical questions, making timely decisions, and removing blockers.
- Maintain high-quality API standards, documentation, and integration processes to meet both technical best practices and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to understand use cases, integration requirements, and feedback for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner (or similar role) in a hands-on product environment, with a track record of delivering complex software or API solutions.
- Ideally, you have experience in API-first products, integrations, or backend-heavy systems where technical understanding was key to success.
- Skilled at prioritising work, writing clear user stories with acceptance criteria, and keeping the product backlog organised and actionable.
- Comfortable driving work forward directly, making decisions at pace, and engaging with technical details to support the engineering team.
- Familiar with sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives; able to work iteratively and adapt priorities as needed.
- Able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
- Skilled at weighing trade-offs between technical feasibility and business impact to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Highly organised, proactive, and focused on delivering tangible improvements that make a difference for both the product and its users.
