About the role
- Own the end-to-end borrower experience across complex, multi-step workflows
- Define experience north stars and long-term UX strategy for your product area
- Proactively identify systemic friction across journeys and drive modernization efforts
- Structure ambiguous problem spaces into clear frameworks (customer journey maps, service blueprints, ecosystem maps, milestone modeling)
- Partner with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap direction based on user insights and business opportunity
- Resolve cross-team experience tradeoffs and ensure cohesive, borrower-first solutions
- Operate as an AI-native designer, leveraging tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Figma AI, and other emerging technologies to accelerate research, synthesis, ideation, and production workflows
- Use AI to rapidly prototype flows, explore interaction patterns, and stress-test edge cases
- Integrate AI-assisted workflows into design processes to increase velocity without sacrificing craft
- Identify opportunities to embed AI meaningfully into borrower-facing experiences
- Define clear problem statements tied to measurable business outcomes
- Frame hypotheses and validate through qualitative and quantitative research
- Connect user needs to core metrics such as conversion, pull-through, cycle time, and engagement
- Design and conduct usability testing (moderated and unmoderated)
- Translate research findings into actionable product decisions
- Own experience-level KPIs and proactively propose improvements
- Design scalable, multi-step workflows within regulated and compliance-heavy environments
- Create intuitive, data-dense dashboards and operational interfaces
- Design AI-assisted experiences that balance automation with user trust and transparency
- Deliver high-fidelity prototypes and polished UI
- Ensure clean, detailed engineering handoffs
- Lead design QA and iteration cycles to maintain execution quality
- Think beyond screens to end-to-end service design implications
- Drive UX consistency across product surfaces (web and mobile)
- Contribute to and evolve the Unified Design System
- Define reusable interaction patterns and scalable components
- Raise the craft bar through thoughtful critique and feedback
- Establish best practices for workflow clarity, accessibility, and usability
- Act as the design lead within your product domain
- Drive alignment during sprint planning and roadmap discussions
- Present strategic design decisions to senior stakeholders
- Influence product prioritization using research and data
- Mentor and support other designers through critique and collaboration
- Advocate for user-centered thinking across Product, Engineering, and Operations
Requirements
- 6-8+ years of product design experience in complex digital products
- Proven experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives from discovery through launch
- Experience designing regulated, transactional, or multi-step workflows
- Strong systems thinking and journey-level design perspective
- Demonstrated ability to connect UX decisions to business impact
- High proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools
- Experience working in agile product teams
