About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide high-quality, direct patient care in a team-based model to BIDHC patients
- Support smooth and efficient administrative and clinical practice operations
- Develop empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues
- Facilitate timely patient flow and communicate visit information, delays, abnormal vitals and patient needs to providers and practice staff
- Obtain vital signs, height and weight measurements; perform EKGs, point-of-care testing and phlebotomy
- Administer immunizations when certified and assist during routine procedures
- Lead population-health outreach and health-coaching conversations
- Identify and contact patients with health-maintenance or chronic-disease-management needs
- Monitor, order and maintain clean, sterilized, stocked and unexpired medical equipment and supplies
- Queue prescription renewals, add medications and enter or scribe clinician-directed orders in the EHR
- Document completed visit tasks for accurate billing
- Schedule diagnostic and laboratory tests
- Verify insurance, prior authorizations, referrals and pre-certifications
- Identify OSHA compliance issues and maintain patient-safety practices
- Report adverse patient events and near misses
- Protect Patient Health Information for treatment, payment and operations purposes
- Report to the Practice Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
- Registration as Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
- Certificate 1 EMT Basic License preferred
- Certificate 2 Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
- 0–1 years of related work experience required
- Demonstrated Medical Assistant competencies within one year of hire
- Must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
