About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to adults and children with hearing and balance disorders
Spend approximately 80% of time in direct patient care and 20% analyzing test data, writing reports, communicating with patients, and participating in divisional activities
Perform pediatric and adult diagnostic hearing evaluations using case history, pure tone, speech, tympanometry, acoustic reflex, and otoacoustic emissions testing
Interpret diagnostic results and recommend further audiological assessment, medical intervention, or rehabilitation
Communicate diagnostic findings to patients, families, physicians, and referral sources
Perform hearing aid evaluations and make appropriate recommendations
Explain digital hearing-aid technology levels and suitability for patient needs
Take earmold impressions and program and fit hearing instruments
Administer, interpret, and apply hearing handicap scales, real-ear analysis, and sound-field measures
Troubleshoot hearing instruments
Perform routine maintenance and minor shell repair or modification
Perform and interpret electro-acoustic analysis of hearing aids
Work collaboratively with two physicians, a nurse practitioner, physicians, and staff in a private-practice ENT setting
Report to the Clinical Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree required in Audiology
1–3 years of related work experience required
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association
Possess or be eligible for licensure in Audiology from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Perform services according to current standards of practice defined by BIDHC/APG, the Medical Center, and the American Speech and Hearing Association
Experience with computer systems, web-based applications, and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access
Preferred: experience diagnosing and remediating hearing and balance disorders
Preferred: proven skills in AEP, ENG/EVG, and digital hearing-aid fitting
Ability to communicate moderately complex information in English in varied written formats
Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English
Ability to provide patient care to youth, young adults, middle-aged, and elderly populations
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently
Ability to stand and/or move around through the majority of the shift
Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
