About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete an intensive 12-month postgraduate hospital medicine fellowship for advanced practice providers
Assess acute and chronic patient illnesses
Obtain complete medical histories and perform physical examinations
Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies
Formulate and implement diagnosis and treatment plans
Seek consultation or referral as necessary
Prescribe and/or dispense medications accurately
Counsel patients and their families or caregivers
Rotate through Burlington, Peabody, and Beverly facilities
Rotate through day, swing, and overnight shifts
Manage patients safely throughout their entire hospital stay
Provide coordinated, cost-effective care to diverse patient populations
Communicate with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare team members
Assist with educating and training students and new providers
Attend all didactic classes and educational experiences

Requirements

What you’ll need

Advanced practice provider: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Physician Assistant: graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Physician Assistant: documentation of registration for next NCCPA Board administration or successful NCCPA Board completion and maintenance of appropriate CME
Nurse Practitioner: graduate of a Master's Program in Nursing
Current certification and license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
DEA number and Massachusetts Department of Public Health Division of Food and Drug Restricted Substances registration number, as appropriate
Written prescription privilege protocols signed by all attending physicians with whom the individual will work
Maintain currency through Clinical Education Units for Nurse Practitioners
Work approximately 40 hours per week on average, including every third weekend
Work 9-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts across day, swing, and overnight rotations
Be present for all didactic classes and educational experiences
Influenza vaccination required as a condition of employment
