About the role

- Promotes safe care for patients by keeping patient safety as a focus of all unit operations and clinical practices.
- Ensures that clinical practice is consistent with standards and evidence-based policies and procedures.
- Serves as a consultant, teacher and role model to all Nursing Staff and the novice workforce.
- Contributes to the delivery of patient care through development and support of nursing staff, collaboration with patients and their families and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Is the nursing champion to the medical staff and collaborates with the highest degree of competency in the area of nursing research and nursing professional practice.
- Functions in the role domains of clinical practice, consultation, education, research / clinical outcomes and population management drawn from the highest standards of evidenced-based benchmarks and practice.
- Supervises clinical practice of the staff, and empowers nursing staff through education, consultation, clinical support and the development of supportive programs and standards of care.
- Proactively recommends improvements in standards of practice.
- Serves as an advisor to direct care providers and participates in special projects and related duties.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in Nursing is required, or currently enrolled in program
- BLS required
- ACLS certification preferred or to be obtained within 6 months
- National certification in specialty nursing is preferred
- Nursing education and quality improvement experience preferred
- Member of relevant professional organization
- Current knowledge of evidence-based practice including but not limited to, national standards and guidelines, principles and practice of safety science, regulatory requirements and current resources.
- Participation in relevant professional development activities
- Demonstrates high degree of independence and decision-making
- Ability to address clinical problems by analyzing, synthesizing, and integrating current research and best practice models.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively to promote teamwork among all care providers.
- Ability to coordinate and provide interdisciplinary educational programs utilizing a wide variety of modalities, including computer programs, drills and simulations.
- Excellent critical thinking skills
