Patient Financial Services Representative – Hospital Billing

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for efficient & timely billing and collections of hospital outstanding balances
- Utilizes the Epic Hospital Billing System to review and monitor accounts
- Works assigned outstanding and denied accounts
- Contacts insurance carriers or other responsible parties for claim confirmation
- Performs all necessary denial activities to obtain payment/resolution of claims
- Reviews accounts to ensure claims were billed properly and payments were applied correctly
- Gathers documentation needed to have claims reprocessed
- Communicates problematic accounts to management
- Identifies and researches incomplete or inaccurate information on claims
- Works claims edit work queue daily and resubmits claims through the Epic billing system
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma / GED Required
- At least two (2) years AR/Billing experience required
- Clear oral and written communication
- Professional telephone & email etiquette
- Able to interact with insurance carriers, patients, and co-workers in a professional and helpful manner
- Use of billing computer and PC skills
- Problem solving and decision making skills
- Able to work independently
- Experience in Revenue Cycle Billing & Accounts Receivable preferred
- Experience working with EPIC preferred
