About the role
- Accurately inputs patient, insurance, and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Answers incoming calls and assists callers with non-clinical inquiries.
- Resolves and ensures proper adjudication of claims.
- Confirm patient benefits with insurance and determine required authorizations to assist the patient with coverage of therapy prescribed.
- Responsible for answering in-bound calls and assisting customers with pharmacy related services.
- Obtain client information by answering telephone calls; interviewing clients; verifying information.
- Contact patients to schedule medication deliveries and verify correct address information.
- Maintains new and existing patient profiles and enters new prescriptions into patient profiles.
- Escalates calls to pharmacist for clinical inquiries and escalates grievances to supervisor.
- Ensures patient health information is preserved per HIPAA & PHI guidelines.
- Contact insurance companies for benefit investigation and coverage eligibility.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- License Mass Registered Pharmacy Tech required.
- 1-3 years related work experience required.
- Previous data entry experience (minimum three months).
- Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
