About the role
- Complete training in healthcare-associated infection surveillance (CLABSI, CAUTI, SSI)
- Perform direct observation of basic infection prevention practices, including staff hand hygiene
- Work up patient and staff exposures to select infectious diseases
- Help manage diseases of public health concern case evaluations
- Develop competence in Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory requirements
- Function as primary infection prevention contact for select inpatient units/ambulatory clinics/service lines
- Independently perform Infection Control Risk Assessments
- Develop skills in outbreak detection and management
- Develop and demonstrate competency in basic data analysis and statistical methodologies
- Maintain strict adherence to BILH confidentiality guidelines and compliance with HIPAA
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree in Infection Control, Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics preferred
- Licensed Registered Nurse preferred
- 1-3 years of work experience in infection prevention and control preferred
- 1-5 years of work experience required
- Professional licensure in related field (RN, MT, etc.) must be maintained as active, if applicable
- Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite applications required
- Experience in use of electronic health records, particularly Epic and/or infection prevention software preferred
- Detail oriented, critical thinker, effective communicator with analytical abilities and strong interpersonal skills
