Assist in overall supervision and administration of safety for Business Unit projects to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Manage project safety efforts to prevent accidents and injuries and communicate safety conditions to the HSE Director and Business Unit supervision.
Participate in developing and conducting field safety orientation training and weekly safety meetings.
Daily inspection of machinery, equipment, and working conditions for regulatory compliance and safe work practices.
Observe workers for appropriate use of prescribed safety equipment (glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators, clothing).
Inspect areas for fire-prevention equipment, first-aid supplies, and other safety devices.
Test working areas for hazard exposures (noise, toxic, etc.) using associated testing equipment.
Prepare daily reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
Investigate accidents per program procedures to establish root cause and recommend preventive measures; document accidents, violations, unsafe conditions or behavior.
Assist in development of standardized job safety analysis (JSA), corporate safety and health management program (SHMP), and project specific safety plans (PSSP).
Demonstrate use of equipment and conduct safety training.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field.
7 years of previous construction experience.
1 year of previous experience as an on-site safety person.
OSHA Outreach Trainer certification.
First Aid, CPR, and AED Trainer certification.
BCSP certification(s): CSP, ASP, GSP, OHST, CHST.
Working knowledge of government regulations, hazard control methods, and industrial hygiene.
Demonstrated ability to conduct training and influence organizational behavior.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented and able to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary.
Ability to travel 0-5% to job sites/office locations.
Physical ability to sit at a desk, climb stairs, kneel, stand, repeat motions, and lift/move up to 20 pounds.
