About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop visual approaches to stories together with the editorial team—from the initial idea through to implementation
Identify which aspects of a topic are suitable for visualization
Analyze and structure data to uncover insights that can be developed into stories
Conceptualize and produce infographics for print
Create data-driven visualizations for the website
Implement interactive or scroll-based formats where appropriate
Contribute original topic and visualization ideas
Establish standards and workflows for visual storytelling within the editorial team
Work closely with editors to translate research, data, and complex relationships into clear visualizations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience in data journalism, visual storytelling, or infographic design
A strong sense of journalistic relevance and narrative structure
The ability to communicate complex content clearly and visually
Experience working with data, including analysis, structuring, and interpretation
Proficiency with common visualization tools, such as Datawrapper, Flourish, and Illustrator
Initial experience with interactive formats, such as simple web visualizations, is desirable
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with editors as equals and develop ideas together
Basic knowledge of JavaScript or web technologies is a plus
Work samples, ideally submitted with the application
