About the role
- Monitor and contextualize current events in Berlin, Germany and worldwide with the aim of producing relevant content for all editorial channels
- Independently develop and produce day-to-day news and Berlin-focused story ideas
- Rapidly and confidently prepare and write news copy
- Analyze user interests and needs to select and shape topics strategically
- Ensure search-engine-optimized (SEO) text composition and distribute content via social media and other digital channels
- Continuously contribute to editorial development by providing ideas, initiatives and constructive feedback
- Work as part of a committed, professional editorial team with a high degree of ownership and team spirit
Requirements
- Completed degree in journalism, equivalent training or a traineeship (Volontariat), plus solid editorial experience
- Extensive knowledge of the city of Berlin, its neighborhoods (Kieze), surrounding areas and their residents
- Enjoy explaining even complex topics in a clear, audience-oriented and linguistically engaging way
- Confident handling of the demands and developments of modern digital journalism
- Stylistic proficiency across all journalistic formats — both in writing and in editing
- Fundamental understanding of SEO, reach metrics (e.g., unique visitors) and their relevance for editorial success
- Structured, reliable and at the same time flexible working style
- Solution-oriented, sustainable thinking and a willingness to engage in continuous professional development and further training
