About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

As a Digital Editor / Duty Editor (m/f/d) you are responsible for how our content is produced, prioritized and reaches its audience.
You assess and prioritize news events, make editorial decisions and take responsibility for the editorial quality and balance of our reporting.
Management and distribution of content across all digital channels
Prioritization of topics and trends with regard to the current news situation, users and reach
Optimization of headlines, teasers and formats (SEO & channel-appropriate)
Working with real-time data and direct feedback loops into the newsroom
Analysis and monitoring of reach and subscription metrics and deriving concrete editorial measures
Central interface between editorial, video, social, product and commercial/market teams
Creation of a daily newsletter

Requirements

What you’ll need

Journalistic background (degree, traineeship/volontariat or several years of experience in a newsroom)
Experience in digital journalism and/or in the editorial management of a homepage/website
A flair for news, headlines and high-reach topics and, ideally, experience implementing these topics in an SEO-optimized way
Analytical thinking, strong communication skills and a sense of responsibility
Excellent German language skills
Confident use of various tools for traffic optimization
Technical understanding of how an editorial website functions
