About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the review and entry of legal invoices for the Claims department.
  • Develop and manage a team of Legal Bill Analysts conducting high-volume invoice reviews.
  • Ensure accurate billing amounts, correct claim and firm assignment, and adherence to business rules before processing.
  • Ensure high internal partner satisfaction and effective cost management while complying with Company policies and State and Federal regulations.
  • Manage the Company’s legal billing software, including setting up new firms and users and coordinating support for complex technical matters.
  • Translate technical requirements and business needs to the information technology group and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Plan, assign, and direct team workflow; establish objectives and goals and ensure timely results.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, rectify billing discrepancies, and modify procedures for efficient and accurate processing.
  • Provide performance feedback through recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action with Human Resources and department leadership as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools for Legal Billing team performance and external legal firm billing cost averages.
  • Provide analytical support to in-house Finance and Claims teams.
  • Perform and record random reviews to verify data accuracy and validity.
  • Perform special assignments and projects as assigned.
  • Model organizational values and behaviors, proactively solve problems, and ensure employee accountability and understanding of performance standards.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Proficient on the Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly master proprietary and vended software applications.
  • Knowledge of legal billing and/or workers compensation insurance claims management.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret written, oral, diagram, graph, or schedule instructions.
  • Able to apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Able to read and interpret complex documents including legal bills, legal opinions, legal letters, legal briefs, claim notes, and claim data fields.
  • Able to write clear, concise reports accurately conveying technical information.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Paralegal Certification preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Expertise in CouncilLink by LexisNexis strongly preferred.
