About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review and evaluate project plans, specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents.
  • Calculate electrical construction costs and create accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposals.
  • Analyze projects for value engineering opportunities while considering job-specific labor and material conditions.
  • Identify inconsistencies, conflicts, and other problems in bid documents.
  • Identify strategies to create bid advantages.
  • Anticipate potential problems and proactively devise solutions.
  • Prepare RFI questions.
  • Request and review material and equipment quotes from vendors and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Prepare bid documents, including scope letters, Blue Sheets, and Evaluations.
  • Assist with budget pricing.
  • Attend estimating, sales, and project meetings to discuss bid status and resolve issues.
  • Perform job walks as needed to assess field conditions affecting construction, bids, or pre-construction designs.
  • Keep management, project management, clients, general contractors, and other stakeholders updated on bid progress.
  • Manage preconstruction activities during the design phase of design-build and design-assist projects.
  • Assist with turnover meetings for the operations team after project award.
  • Assist with project pursuits and interviews as needed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of electrical estimating experience for commercial and industrial projects
  • Experience estimating projects valued at $5 million and above
  • Advanced skills with MS Office
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience utilizing Accubid and Accubid LiveCount is preferred
