About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist Project Managers in managing electrical construction projects from start-up to closeout
  • Support planning, directing, and coordinating construction operations, purchasing, financial reporting, and project controls
  • Coordinate engineering studies, change orders, estimating, submittals, RFIs, procurement, and project planning
  • Work with owners, clients, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, architectural and engineering firms, and trade partners
  • Create subcontracts and purchase orders and track job costs and monthly revenue forecasts
  • Manage QA/QC, document control, contract administration, billing procedures, and job cost control
  • Review subcontractor payment applications and approve or adjust material and subcontract invoices
  • Assist with bid turnover, project startup, material procurement, pay applications, jobsite walk-throughs, and closeout documentation
  • Maintain project documents using Bluebeam Studio and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Develop project controls, budgets, schedules of values, billing mechanisms, and product data submittals/shop drawings
  • Manage RFI submission, tracking, response evaluation, and implementation
  • Evaluate construction methods and cost-effectiveness; address delays, bad weather, and construction-site emergencies
  • Visit projects to assess performance, progress, quality, field connectivity, and client relationships
  • Ensure company and project-owner safety and environmental policies are followed
  • Manage closeout and commissioning processes and track subcontractor/vendor documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of electrical experience/knowledge of construction, design, and cost management as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer on commercial or institutional projects
  • BS in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience preparing take-offs and estimates for change orders
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of NECA codes and TIA standards
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, materials, means, and methods
  • Understanding of company and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, ChangeOrder, Accubid or other estimation software, and BOS (Berg Operating System)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to present professionally and represent the company image
  • Demonstrated leadership and project success
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to meet physical demands including lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing
