About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, direct, and coordinate construction operations, purchases, financial reporting, and project controls for an assigned portfolio of concurrent electrical projects
- Participate in proposals, procurement, contract negotiations, project operations, and financial performance management
- Review project contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions with owners, architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Prepare project controls, budgets, schedules of values, and billing mechanisms
- Execute major project purchases, buyouts, product data submittals, shop drawings, and material releases
- Manage project profitability through predictive analysis and revenue, cost, and profit forecasting
- Evaluate construction methods and cost-effectiveness; respond to delays, bad weather, and emergencies
- Develop and implement project quality control programs
- Visit projects to assess performance, progress, quality, and connectivity with field teams and clients
- Execute and manage billing, payroll administration, material/subcontractor payments, and owner payments
- Ensure company and project-owner safety and environmental policies are followed
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, architectural and engineering firms, peers, and trade partners
- Provide direction on staff development and collaborate with project managers and supervisory staff to allocate resources and improve efficiency and profitability
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in Project Management or a related field
- Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tools required for electrical construction
- Experience managing projects of $3 million and above
- Experience managing large Commercial, Institutional, and/or Federal projects preferred
- Working knowledge of the NEC
- Fluency in estimating processes
- Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, materials, means, and methods
- Understanding of company and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities
- Ability to understand, manage, and abide by contracts and subcontracts
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to facilitate, negotiate, and execute buyouts of major purchase orders and subcontracts
- Ability to oversee and effectively manage low-voltage work and subcontractors
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, critical-thinking, judgment, decision-making, and negotiation skills
- Ability to lead and motivate personnel
- Advanced skills in MS Office, project management software, and estimating software
- Ability to perform the stated physical demands, including lifting files, opening filing cabinets, bending, or standing
- Willingness and ability to work in office and jobsite environments with varied weather and high noise levels
