About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and grow the Data Governance function, setting strategic direction for data ownership, stewardship policy, access governance, and data classification standards
Own and operate DataHub as the living catalog of the organization’s data assets, including metadata management, catalog onboarding, tagging, lineage registration, and domain stewardship
Evaluate and deploy complementary governance, observability, privacy, entitlement, and quality platforms
Own the enterprise Data Quality Framework covering Completeness, Accuracy, Timeliness, Consistency, Validity, and Uniqueness
Classify data assets into quality tiers and enforce tier-specific SLAs and standards
Document, publish, and review data quality SLAs by domain and tier
Define and publish data health score methodology and report domain scores monthly to the data domain council
Conduct quarterly data quality audits, share findings, and assign remediation with accountability and due dates
Define and maintain dataset profiling policies and escalation thresholds
Govern the separation between defining quality rules and implementing them; escalate breaches and track resolution
Own access control and entitlements governance
Lead compliance alignment across privacy regulations, internal audit requirements, and industry standards
Partner with Legal and Security on current data handling practices
Facilitate the cross-functional data domain council
Build a culture of data accountability through training, communication, and stakeholder engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business, or equivalent professional experience
7 or more years of experience in data governance, data management, or a closely related field
At least 2 years in a people or program leadership role
Hands-on experience operating a data catalog or metadata management platform
Experience with DataHub strongly preferred
Familiarity with Collibra, Alation, or Atlan is a significant asset
Working knowledge of data observability and quality tooling, including Monte Carlo, Lightup, Great Expectations, or dbt
Familiarity with OneTrust, Privacera, or equivalent privacy and entitlement governance platforms
Strong understanding of data quality frameworks, dimensions, SLAs, health scores, and remediation
Experience designing and enforcing data classification and access governance frameworks in AWS, Azure, or GCP
Understanding of GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, and internal audit standards
Ability to facilitate cross-functional councils, align stakeholders, and enforce standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills for policies, executive presentations, and non-technical stakeholders
Experience working with dbt and understanding lineage, documentation, and testing practices
Ability to build programs from the ground up in a maturing governance environment
DAMA CDMP certification, DataHub Cloud or Acryl Data, Apache Atlas or AWS Glue Data Catalog, SaaS/B2B governance experience, and MLOps or AI model risk exposure are great-to-haves
Must be legally authorized to work in the country where currently based
