About the role
- Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Commercial Lines, the Middle Market Account Manager position is responsible for increasing the value of a client’s business through insurance program design, risk consulting and loss control coordination.
- Serve as a professional insurance consultant to accounts as assigned including risk analysis and recommendations, client visits, and premium financing program design.
- Meet with clients regularly to review insurance and risk management needs.
- Service Commercial Lines accounts and collect premiums per established agency procedures.
- Partner with Producer on client renewal strategies (prepare company submissions for renewal business quotes and prepare proposals of insurance for existing Commercial Lines clients, including visits to clients with the producer when requested).
- Partner with clients on their claims management reporting.
- Keep current on rates, forms, and coverage changes through circulars, bulletins, trade publications, seminars, and schools offered.
- Participate in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development.
- Initiate, screen, and prepare endorsement requests for Commercial Lines clients.
- Review all applications, policies, endorsements, and audits for accuracy.
- Prepare account summaries as required.
- Deliver policies, and related documents to insureds as needed.
- Maintain suspense items in a timely manner.
- Maintain all client activity in the agency automation systems per agency procedures.
- Keep producers informed of all important activity on their mutual accounts.
- Regularly evaluate new product opportunities (policies and coverages) not written by Bender Insurance Solutions for clients and obtain expiration dates to follow-up on.
- Assist other agency departments in securing and/or providing information necessary to issue appropriate policies in their department for which we have a mutual client.
- Assist other agency departments and producers in cross selling and account rounding.
- Available for process training with new hires.
- Available to serve as a subject matter expert for fellow CL team.
- Available to mentor Middle Market account manager I and II and Select Commercial account managers.
- Ability to service a book of business of middle market accounts general over $30,000 in revenue.
- Maintains a policy per account average of greater than 4.
- Participate in one BIS committee a year.
- Participate in strategic planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of commercial lines experience, including strong knowledge of insurance terminology, concepts and coverage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or equivalent major or completion of an Insurance study program preferred: ACSR, ARM, CRM, CPCU, CIC, CISR, CISC, CRIS, MLIS, AIN, CRM, CPCU
- Appropriate Property and Casualty Agents/Brokers License in good standing.
- Ability to ethically negotiate with third parties, clients, carriers, etc.
- Familiar with computers and Agency Management Systems, Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) ability to use the internet and adapt to new software programs and changes in technology.
- Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks.
- Prioritize workload and/or request assistance as required.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to adapt to a paperless environment.
- Inter-relationship Component: Ability to develop excellent working relationships with staff, prospects, clients, insurance carriers, and vendors.
- Ability to be a team player and work cohesively with other Bender Insurance Solutions staff to achieve agency goals.
- Able to represent Bender Insurance Solutions in a professional manner.
