About the role

  • Conduct on-site investigations, surveys, analyses and infrared moisture surveys for commercial/industrial roofs; prepare comprehensive evaluation reports
  • Develop repair, replacement, and maintenance recommendations aligned with client goals and budgets; support national multi-facility roof management programs
  • Perform detailed roof design investigations, research codes and insurance requirements, develop design options and narrative reports; prepare plans, specifications and bid packages
  • Assist with contractor prequalification, pre-bid meetings, addenda, bid evaluation and recommendation for award
  • Coordinate and oversee construction-phase activities: lead pre-construction meetings, weekly progress meetings, review submittals, RFIs, change orders, manage schedules and budgets, process payment applications, final inspections and closeout documentation
  • Provide peer review and quality assurance of deliverables; contribute to standards, details, and processes
  • Act as trusted technical advisor to clients and collaborate across internal teams to deliver seamless service
  • Mentor and train junior consultants; demonstrate leadership and contribute to a culture of integrity and collaboration
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and client safety requirements; maintain relevant certifications and training

Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel nationwide (~50% by air and vehicle)
  • Relevant experience in commercial/industrial roof design, construction, quality assurance, and/or consulting
  • Able to apply technical skills and research to solve commercial roof problems
  • Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and client satisfaction
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and mobile technology (iPad, smartphone, laptop)
  • Able to read, interpret, and provide high-level input into construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
  • Physical: lift at least 50 pounds; access roofs via ladders/stairs; sit, stand, walk, stoop for extended periods; occasional crawling
  • Strong passion for technical excellence, continuous learning, and improvement
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Structural/Construction Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related discipline
  • Preferred: IIBEC Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) and/or Registered Roof Observer (RRO)
  • Preferred: Experience preparing plans, specifications, bid documents, estimating, proposal writing, and ERP (Deltek Vantagepoint)
  • Preferred: Experience mentoring junior team members and working in EOS environments
