About the role
- responsible to execute the design, analysis, evaluation and assemblies of the compressor module in an aviation jet engine
- Expertise in compressor design with industry leading analytical tools
- Able to complete and support mechanical and aero analysis to assure the module meets requirements
- Lead engine system or component test programs from a hardware design perspective
- Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to execute component validation
- Serve as the component design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team
- Ensure products and sub-systems meet overall requirements from a design perspective
- Advocate for component capability while understanding the trade-offs and business decisions necessary to deliver the best overall solution
- Coordinate with analysis engineers and/or conduct analyses and design optimization to meet product requirements
- Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysis
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design
- Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing
- role will initially be an individual contributor comfortable working in a dynamic self-directed start-up environment
- As the organization grows, this role will be responsible for scaling design capability to support additional projects which may include some future team leadership
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices
- Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
- 8+ years of experience in gas turbine component design
- Strong understanding of design software tools (CAD, ANSYS, CFD, etc)
- Experience working with compressors for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspective
- Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. Citizen ship is required, as only U.S. Citizen s are eligible for a security clearance
