About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver practical, business-focused contracting guidance to business leaders, risk management, compliance, government relations, and other stakeholders
Manage legal support for vendor agreements and align contracts with BECU's strategic objectives and risk framework
Review, draft, and negotiate complex technology, SaaS, AI, data privacy, and commercial agreements
Develop and maintain contract playbooks, templates, and standardized risk positions
Partner on implementation and adoption of BECU's Contract Lifecycle Management platform and process improvements
Coach, mentor, and develop the existing non-lawyer contract team
Serve as a senior escalation resource for significant legal contracting issues
Support legal operations, outside counsel management, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Build and evolve legal contracting and vendor governance capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school
Active Bar membership in good standing
10+ years of legal experience in a law firm, financial institution, fintech, regulatory agency, or combination thereof
5+ years management or leadership experience required
Occasional travel may be required
Strong legal drafting, analytical, and issue-spotting capabilities
Significant experience with SaaS and technology contracts, DPAs, and AI addendums
Ability to balance legal risks against business initiatives
Expertise in GLBA, CCPA, Open Banking, and other data privacy regulations
Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, concise, actionable guidance
Strong interest in emerging technologies, evolving business models, and changing regulatory frameworks
