About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and deliver complex, enterprise-scale solutions supporting lending and credit card platforms
Translate business and stakeholder needs into technical designs meeting performance, security, reliability, and scalability requirements
Identify opportunities to simplify systems, improve platform architecture, and introduce modern engineering practices
Lead cloud-ready financial solution design using modern application architectures, integrations, and services
Collaborate with architects, engineers, delivery teams, infrastructure partners, and business stakeholders
Design, develop, and troubleshoot APIs and enterprise integrations
Analyze production challenges, identify root causes, and improve operational stability
Create prototypes and proof-of-concepts for complex business challenges
Recommend solutions that improve member experiences and business outcomes
Provide technical leadership, code reviews, architectural guidance, and mentorship
Stay current on emerging technologies, architecture trends, and engineering practices
Present technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Influence enterprise-wide design decisions and modernization initiatives across BECU's lending and credit card technology ecosystem

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience required
Minimum 10 years of information technology experience with demonstrated expertise in application design
Experience with financial products such as credit cards, mortgages, loans, and deposits
Experience in consumer financial products with expertise in UX, integration, and API layers
Experience with public cloud technologies, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
Experience leading and collaborating with multiple teams on enterprise-wide initiatives through all aspects of the SDLC
Demonstrated experience with .NET, C#, Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks in TypeScript or JavaScript (React, Angular, etc.), or Python
Strong understanding of SOLID design principles, object-oriented programming, and design
Expertise with SOA patterns and distributed systems design
Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery systems and tools such as Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity
System administration and automation with PowerShell or Bash preferred
Industry conference presentation experience preferred
Advanced degree preferred
Must be a resident of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA, or VA
