About the role
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly and quarterly financial reports to help business divisions understand performance and make informed decisions.
- Contribute to the development of BECU’s annual financial plan and periodic forecasts by ensuring accuracy, clarity, and actionable insights in all reporting.
- Perform variance analysis across expenses, projects, and staffing. Identify trends, explain deviations, and highlight opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work closely with Finance Business Partners, department leaders, and cross-functional teams to provide consulting support and strengthen financial alignment across divisions.
- Help prepare planning and forecast materials for senior leadership and the Board of Directors, ensuring data integrity and clear storytelling through numbers.
- Build proficiency in systems like PeopleSoft and OneStream, while maintaining a solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in cross-divisional initiatives, ad-hoc analyses, and financial forecasts that deepen your understanding of the organization’s strategy and financial health.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with internal teams, ensuring transparency and collaboration in achieving credit union goals.
Requirements
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent experience.
- Typically requires 1 year of related experience in a financial institution and/or financial analyst experience including budgeting/forecasting.
- BECU intern experience preferred.
- Proficient PC skills (Microsoft Office and flow-charting), with the ability to learn new software.
- Basic understanding of planning software such as OneStream.
- Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement multiple projects in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgement in problem solving.
- Ability to work with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
