About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review, evaluate, and adjudicate a high volume of daily commercial credit submissions, including financial statement analysis, collateral evaluation, and business history review
  • Recommend risk-based pricing and deal structures, and coordinate lease approvals
  • Conduct background investigations, reference checks, and revenue-source confirmations
  • Identify transactions for Beacon's portfolio or third-party funding partners and manage the in-credit transaction pipeline
  • Assist with underwriting portfolio acquisitions and sales
  • Manage and grow relationships with syndicate banks and funding partners
  • Negotiate financing terms and establish new syndication and funding partnerships
  • Develop and enhance corporate credit scoring strategy and the credit policy manual
  • Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Research and recommend asset classes, credit tools, systems, and data sources
  • Analyze credit data and portfolio performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into strategies and rules
  • Monitor credit standards, regulations, industry trends, requirements, and competitor activity for compliance
  • Present credit analytics findings to senior management and collaborate with executives on credit policy and decisions
  • Communicate with sales staff to facilitate deal flow and establish payment terms and procedures
  • Collaborate with data analysts and application developers on underwriting technology and reporting platforms
  • Foster teamwork across credit, sales, accounting, documentation, and collections
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior credit analysts
  • Participate in cross-functional project management and delivery of new initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of combined experience in credit underwriting, portfolio management, and/or credit analytics, ideally with a bank, finance company, or leasing company
  • Experience with small-ticket, construction, and/or commercial vehicle equipment finance is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of loans, leasing, credit analysis, underwriting, and deal structuring
  • Strong analytical skills, including identifying risks, trends, and opportunities from data and translating analysis into actionable strategy
  • Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau and strong general computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior management
  • Proactive self-starter with organizational and time-management skills
