About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct proper investigations and due diligence for medium to high complexity loan proposals
- Underwrite high-quality loan proposals by analyzing financial and credit information
- Develop appropriate terms, pricing, conditions, and covenants
- Review loan packages and negotiate deal structures with internal partners when necessary
- Ensure compliance with BDC policies and procedures
- Participate in resolving compliance issues or material changes during deal negotiation and structuring
- Develop win-win solutions for clients and BDC through innovative thinking and resourcefulness
- Maintain relationships with business center personnel, colleagues, and internal partners
- Foster teamwork, common objectives, and consistent policy application
- Monitor changes to policies, procedures, processes, and credit and regulatory trends
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration or accounting
- Accounting designation or CFA and banking experience are definite assets
- 3 to 5 years or more of relevant experience
- Experience in corporate and/or syndicated financing
- Experience in loan writing
- Ability to analyze and structure complex financial deals
- Sound credit judgement and strong understanding of credit policies and practices
- Thorough knowledge of bank products, services, policies and procedures
- Ability to provide high-quality customer service to internal and external clients
- Ability to develop win-win solutions through innovative thinking
- Strong communication skills to interact and negotiate with internal partners and, in certain instances, clients
- Good time management and priority-setting skills to meet critical deadlines
- Strong business acumen
- Team player with a thorough understanding of the small business environment
